As you may know, this week is Challenge Poverty Week (2024).CPW aims to:1) Raise a unified voice against poverty and show thatwe all want to live in a more just and equal Scotland.2) Build awareness of and support for solutions topoverty.3) Change the conversation around poverty and helpend the stigma of living on a low incomeIn 2023, 500 organisations from across Scotland were involved in Challenge Poverty Week, all joined together in a unified voice and taking action to end the injustice of poverty. Every day there's a focus topic - and this year Tuesday's focus is transport - something dear to our hearts! On that topic, we wanted to share with you that, in the last 13 months (1/8/2023 to 31/8/2024), our affordable transport service for the over 50's responded to 1,553 separate requests from 391 individual clients, with volunteer drivers covering over 60,000 miles! As well as helping people get to all types of healthcare appointments from Perth to Aberdeen, our service also helps people get to groups and activities which support physical and mental health and wellbeing, visit husbands and wives in care homes, and get vital food shopping. We like to think that we're doing our bit - and if you'd like to do something amazing for your community, get in touch for details on how you can make a difference!#ChallengePoverty #CP24#TP&I#tacklingpovertyandinequality#TacklingPoverty#thepovertyalliance
